Costs of services

Bespoke research

I am happy to undertake bespoke research, should any of the research packages not be what you require.

I charge a rate of £10 per hour, or part thereof, for bespoke work.

Research can be undertaken at the following county archives as required. Rates in brackets show the cost of the visit including mileage and time. The rate excludes time spent on research or sundries such as parking charges, or charges for copying services at the archive.

  • Dorset History Centre (£33)
  • Hampshire Record Office (£95)
  • Somerset Heritage Centre (£70)
  • Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre (£75)

I am happy to quote for research undertaken at other archives.

Certificates

I can search for, and obtain, certified copies of the entries of birth, marriage, and death from the relevant General Register Office.

Certified copies are available for England & Wales from 1837; for Scotland from 1855; and for Northern Ireland from 1864.

The costs for these certificates vary by country, but at the time of writing the cost for England & Wales is £9.25; Scotland £12.75; Northern Ireland £15. If you have the full details required then I will charge £5 for this service. If I need to search for the record then I will charge £10. This is in addition to the certificate cost. If certificates are requested as part of a research package then I will make no charge other than the actual cost of the certificate(s).

I offer a number of fixed price research packages which may be of interest:

I also offer a totally bespoke service, so if the above do not meet your requirements then we can discuss what you need.
